Tailor-made cricket tours in Japan

Cricket was first played in Japan in 1868 by a group of English Merchants. Cricket in Japan did not become organised until the 1980’s when the Japan Cricket Association was formed. In 1989 they became an affiliate member of the ICC and in 1996 they played in their first international tournament. They are now part of the ICC’s East Asia/Pacific region and regularly play in competitions around the world. Japan now has many cricket clubs in all age groups from Youth to university to Adult teams – for both men and women / boys and girls. Tokyo in particular boasts a wealth of cricket teams with the official home of cricket based in Sano from where the JCA runs an initiative called ‘Cricket for Smiles’, similar to the UK’s ‘Chance to Shine’ programme in primary schools. The season is similar to ours with the best time to tour being during the summer months.
